Daughter of the Spanish artist Antonio Saura (1930-1998) and Gunhild Madeleine Augot (1929), translator from Swedish to French, Marina Saura Augot was born in Madrid (Spain) in July 1957. She was the eldest of three sisters: Ana (1959-1990) and Elena (1962-1983). Attended school in Madrid, Switzerland and France. Originally inclined to scientific studies, particularly volcanology and oceanography, she soon became interested in literature and the theatre. Watching "Simple Light", a production of the "Bread and Puppet Theatre Company", determined her choice. She trained as an actress at The Drama Centre of London, Great Britain (1976-1979). In her twenties, she settled in Madrid(Spain)and started working in the professional theatre in 1980 and began working in films in 1983. She alternates TV work with theatre and films. Since her father's death in 1998, she settled in Switzerland where she co-founded the "Archives Antonio Saura" foundation in Geneva.
